We’re almost at the end of Marvel’s cinematic world. Of course, such an adventure should have a spectacular ending. Infinity War definitely gives what we expect in the best way and meets our expectations at the climax. Gathering a total of 64 crucial characters and almost half of Hollywood in a single movie, Avengers: Infinity War is a marvelous movie that does justice to its name. Such a movie that could make even someone who doesn’t like Marvel. When I left the hall, as the Americans say, I was hyped as hell and under the influence of this excitement until the end of the day. I would like to answer the question of what happened to deserve such praise below.
Actually, the answer to the question is straightforward: For the first time, Marvel wanted to do something different. Those choreographic fights and endless jokes are the only reason why I am -still- distant from Marvel, even though I like their universe. Even better, despite the fact that all Marvel superheroes were gathered in a single movie, they told the story not from their perspective but from the mindset of the so-called villain. It is “so-called” because calling Thanos a solid villain would be wrong, I guess. The whole movie is actually the story of Thanos. We are watching Thanos’s effort to get what he wants, not the Avengers’ movie about saving the world.
One of the most essential details that can make a movie successful is that the villain is well-designed. Joker, Bane, Darth Vader, Voldemort… We have a bunch of good examples of this idea. Marvel -at least according to me- has always come up with empty enemies until now. In Civil War, we watched an ordinary man turn all superheroes against each other for revenge, which was a disaster. But in Avengers: Infinity War, we come across Thanos, who has a controversial philosophy and pursues his own thoughts and passions. If you have a command of comics and the Marvel world, you know who Thanos is. Unfortunately, I am not the judge. Thanks to the movie, I learned who he is. Maybe not entirely fit to comics, yet still enough to become a legend. The last time we saw an enemy of this depth was in 2009 on Watchmen. There are similarities between the philosophy of Thanos and the fact that Ozymandias killed thousands of people without hesitation to prevent nuclear war.
One of the most successful aspects of the movie is the accurate reflection of Thanos’ weight. Even the tension that builds up every time Thanos’ name is heard is impressive. Obviously, his abilities do justice to the tension. The fact that he goes one-on-one with Hulk at the beginning of the movie is to create the impression that he is a robust character from the start. Likewise, Thanos’ team is awe-inspiring. Also, the word “Avengers” becomes real for the first time in this movie. In the process leading to extinction, the team manages to work together despite all their hostility. This ensures that they do justice to the Infinity War name. Almost every second of the two-and-a-half-hour movie is action-packed. You get enough of the action throughout the film and get hype, as they don’t go bullshit like in other movies.

In the spoiler section, I want to say a few words about the movie’s finale because we haven’t seen such a daring finale in a long time. I don’t think anyone would have guessed when asked who dies in the pre-film polls. Extinct half of the living beings in the universe with the snap of a finger will probably remain an unforgettable moment throughout the history of cinema. And the deep sigh on his porch after a compelling task reinforces that the movie tells his story. One of the most engrossing aspects of the finale -I didn’t read comics- was that the Infinity Gauntlet was disposable. Thanos dusted half the universe by causing colossal chaos. One point that makes the movie even better is the question of what will happen now? How to come back from this chaos? What’s the solution? Thanos did what he wanted, and there are no more gloves? Another question mark was to whom Nick Fury, whom we saw in the after-credits, was texting. The logo belongs to Captain Marvel. The screenwriters wanted to show Captain Marvel in Infinity War, but then they gave up and left that idea to her movie debut. This shows us that we will definitely meet Captain Marvel in the 2nd movie.

The philosophy and character created for Thanos carried the movie up. On top of that, the film reaches a different level as we watch the story through Thanos’ eyes. With Thanos’ unstoppable progression, the juxtaposition of nearly 20 superheroes, never-ending combat, brilliant shots, and more, Marvel received profound appreciation from me for the first time, especially with the finale. Making the most daring finale of recent years, Avengers: Infinity War will make you wonder about its ending and engage you in an ethical discussion. Is Thanos right?
Avengers: Infinity War is not just an action movie; It is a better quality movie with a philosophy, filled with ethical discussions and action compared to other films in the universe. It is not classic aliens are coming and will destroy us movie. A reborn or redecoration of Ozymandias’s plan ten years later. While you are having fun, on the other hand, movie makes you think. It pushes you into ethical confusion, which jazzes up the movie’s pleasure. You won’t even realize it’s over. For this reason, you can have peace of mind when you go to the movie theater. You will definitely witness a movie that will satisfy you this time, even if you were not satisfied before.
