Superman and Lois – TV Review

Although the superhero rush of the last 20 years, which started with Marvel and continued with DC, gave importance to the characters’ private lives at first. But then the characters’ emotions were put into the background, especially after Iron Man, and only the action was focused. They may have made a small change with Black Widow, the first movie of Phase 4, but superhero movies generally are about good fighting evil. However, we all wanted to see Captain America’s dance promise to Peggy. We all cared about Toby’s turmoil in Spider-Man’s daily life. Because we know that they all have feelings and passions, no matter how super powerful they are. We wanted to see them too. Superman and Lois is an exemplary series that finally gives us this quest, showing what the most powerful character in the universe goes through as a father and overtime worker.

Let me briefly touch on the subject… We see Superman, Clark Kent, who we see fighting supervillains every time, as a father this time. Returning to Smallville with Lois and his 2 sons, Clark Kent tries to be a father to his sons and a good husband to Lois while dealing with the world’s problems as Superman. But if you were to ask which one he had the most difficulty with: Definitely being a family man.

Let me briefly touch on the subject… We see Superman, Clark Kent, who we see fighting supervillains every time, as a father this time. Of course, the series contains many action scenes. The story again connects to a supervillain, and Superman tries to stop this villain. But these parts did not interest me much. After all, Superman will somehow win at the end of the day. We know what will happen in the final. But we don’t know what Superman is like as a father and husband. So it was pretty interesting to watch these episodes. For the first time, we see what kind of character Clark Kent is and what he does in his daily life, family, and past. In short, we are watching Superman for the first time as a human being without a super at the beginning. This was very valuable to me.

While watching the series, I thought for a while. If a Superman movie or series were made but without a supervillain in it. It would have been much more impressive if Superman tried to be a father and a shift worker while doing his daily duties. It would even be somewhat revolutionary. A project without a crescendo, where we focus on the emotions of a superhero, how he writes his shopping list, what advice he gives to his son, and whether he enjoys working 9-5. A man who can push planets argues with his son and fails to solve the problem is definitely a project worth watching. For this reason, I repeat what I said above: Superman and Lois is a precious production.

To sum it up… Superman and Lois is a successful example where the private life project of the superhero I’ve been wondering about for years has come to life. I’ve always wondered what heroes do when they’re not fighting hand-to-hand with the deadliest beings in the universe. The series gave a good answer to this question through Clark Kent. Because no matter how super you are, you can’t solve daily problems in life with fists or laser eyes. Then you put the costume in the corner and try to solve the issues with your character. As we get to know Clark Kent closely throughout the series, we also have the opportunity to see Lois Lane as a journalist for the first time “really.” This time, we are not confronted with Superman’s “lover in danger”; she appears as a journalist, a mother, and an individual.
